High Court Registry Rejects Urgent Hearing on Ticket Hike for Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad
With the court on its Sankranti vacation from January 12 to 18, Vijay Gopal, counsel for the petitioner, moved the house motion on Saturday.

Hyderabad:The Registry of the Telangana High Court has declined to entertain a house motion petition seeking urgent hearing of a writ petition challenging the government’s permission to hike the ticket prices for Tollywood actor Chiranjeevi-starrer ‘Mana Shankara Vara Prasad’, scheduled to release on January 12.
With the court on its Sankranti vacation from January 12 to 18, Vijay Gopal, counsel for the petitioner, moved the house motion on Saturday.
The petitioner was informed that the issue did not fall in the category of “life-threatening” or exceptionally urgent matter that merited circulation during the vacation. The Registry directed that the writ petition be filed and placed for hearing on the court’s reopening day on January 19.
The writ petition was filed by Dachepally Chandra Babu, challenging a memo dated January 8, issued by the principal secretary, home, allowing the film to be screened with enhanced ticket prices across Telangana in multiplexes and single-screen theatres.
The petitioner requested the court to impose fine on the authorities for violating the court orders.
HC Pulls Up State Govt for Violating Status Quo on PACS Appointments
Hyderabad:The Telangana High Court expressed serious displeasure at the state issuing a government order allegedly in violation of its earlier directions to maintain status quo with regard to the continuation of tenure of persons-in-charge (PIC) chairmen of primary agricultural cooperative credit societies (PACS). Justice T. Madhavi Devi directed the secretary, agriculture and cooperation, and the commissioners concerned, to explain their stand and posted the matter to January 30.
The contempt petition was filed by Nallavelli Ashok of Rajampet in Kamareddy district. Appearing for the petitioner, advocate K. Buchibabu submitted that the court had earlier held that an official could not be appointed as an in-charge of a PACS under Section 115D(3)(b) of the relevant statute.
He argued that GO No. 597 dated December 19, 2025, was contrary to the court’s directions and that the issuance of another GO during the pendency of a challenge to GO No. 386 dated August 14 was illegal. He urged the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the officials concerned.
In a connected writ petition, Justice T. Madhavi Devi suspended GO No. 597, which provided for the appointment of special officers in PACS. The writ petition was filed by B. Pandu, PIC chairman of Rudraram PACS, along with 11 others, challenging their removal pursuant to the GO. Advocate Gadipalli Mallareddy, appearing for the petitioners, sought interim relief to allow the petitioners to continue in their posts until elections are conducted. The court issued notices to the state and other authorities and adjourned the writ petition to February 9.
