Heritage Wing Plans Promotion Of Megalithic Site

The collector responded positively to the proposals and expressed willingness to extend the necessary cooperation and support from the district administration.

Hyderabad: Prof. Arjun Rao, director, department of heritage, and Prof. Vedakumar Manikonda, chairman of the Deccan Heritage Academy Trust, met Narayanpet collector Ch. Priyanka, and discussed measures for the development, protection and promotion of the Mudumal Megalithic Site in Narayanpet district.

The proposals discussed included fixing and demarcating the boundaries of the site for its protection, acquisition of land, construction of a BT approach road and conducting an orientation programme for headmasters of schools across the district to create awareness about the historical and archaeological significance of Mudumal.

They also proposed organising two cultural festivals every year to promote the site and encourage heritage tourism.

The collector responded positively to the proposals and expressed willingness to extend the necessary cooperation and support from the district administration. She said the administration would work towards the preservation, protection and promotion of the Mudumal Megalithic Site and its development as a heritage tourism destination.
