Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc In Kamareddy, Medak; Railway Track Washed Away

Hyderabad: Kamareddy and Medak districts bore the maximum brunt of the incessant rainfall that continued to lash several parts of the State since Tuesday night. All the water bodies in the two districts were overflowing inundating the low-lying areas.
A railway track washed away in Kamareddy district due to heavy rains. All the trains moving towards Kamareddy and Nizamabad route were suspended due to the impact of heavy rainfall.
Argonda village in Rajampet mandal of Kamareddy district registered a record 363.8 mm rainfall from 8.30 am to 2 pm on Wednesday followed by 238 mm rainfall at Bhiknoor in the district leaving the people and the district administration in a helpless situation.
The national highway at Jangampally between Kamareddy and Hyderabad was closed due to heavy flood water. Officials asked the motorists to be careful while travelling on the highway connecting Kamareddy.
Former MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao spoke to the people, who were trapped in the flood water at Dhoopsingh thanda in Medak district and assured them that a helicopter would be pressed into service to rescue them. There were reports that a car was also washed away at Nagpur vagu in Medak.
At a review meeting convened on Wednesday afternoon, the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reviewed the flood situation in Medak and Kamareddy districts and asked all the departments concerned to be on high alert to deal with the situation.
He asked the Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to take the assistance of NDRF and SDRF to take up relief and rescue operations
