Heavy Flooding Disrupts Travel Across Warangal

Floodwaters have inundated Battala Bazaar, Old Beat Bazaar, Hunter Road, NTR Nagar, Ramannapet, Shivanagar, Karimabad, Kashibugga and Rangashaipet.

Warangal: Heavy rainfall early Tuesday morning caused streams, canals, and reservoirs to overflow onto the roads, leading to significant travel disruptions across the erstwhile Warangal district. The downpour severely impacted the movement of RTC bus services. Buses scheduled to travel through Hanamkonda and Warangal were confined to the depots, and incoming buses from other areas were stuck at various locations throughout the district. The Warangal railway station was completely waterlogged, with floodwaters reaching the platforms, which delayed several trains and severely affected passenger services. Officials advised people to cancel their travel plans.

Transportation has been significantly affected by the overflowing Vattewagu stream near Chandragonda village in Nekkonda mandal, halting traffic between Nekkonda and Chandragonda. Traffic was completely halted between Seetharampuram and Mudigonda due to the submergence of a culvert connecting the two villages and the overflow of floodwaters from the Matu Cheruvu in Seetharampuram village. In Kothaguda mandal of Mahbubabad district, the Gunjedu and Gadeva streams are overflowing due to heavy rainfall. Police have set up barricades and warned people to refrain from fishing. The main road in Kothaguda town is completely waterlogged, causing significant problems for residents and commuters. In Danthalapally mandal, the Pedda Mupparam stream has overflowed onto the road, obstructing traffic between Danthalapally and Pedda Mupparam villages.

Meanwhile, in the Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, heavy rain has turned the premises of the Zilla Parishad High School in Gollabuddaram village into a small lake, following the overflow of the Gaddagunta stream. This has flooded the main road from Bhupalpally town to the forest villages through Rampur.

The headmaster of the school quickly informed parents and ensured that all students were safely sent home.

In the Maripeda municipal area, there was heavy overnight rain that caused flash floods, resulting in a large amount of floodwater in Ward 14 and in front of a government school. Consequently, students had to walk through mud and water to reach school. Meanwhile, the Bheemuni Padam waterfalls in Gudur mandal are also overflowing due to heavy rain that began on Monday night. Police and forest officials have implemented precautionary measures to ensure the safety of tourists, as the scenic weather is expected to attract a large number of visitors.
