Adilabad: Relentless rainfall over the past two days in the erstwhile Adilabad district has caused rivulets and streams to overflow, cutting off road access to many villages. In several areas, standing crops are submerged, and enclaves of villages are surrounded by floodwaters.
Komaram Bheem district has reported moderate to heavy rainfall, while Adilabad, Indravelli, and Gudihatnoor mandals in Adilabad district, as well as Jannaram mandal in Mancherial district, have seen moderate showers. Bejjur mandal alone has recorded 210 mm of rain since Wednesday morning, and 93 mm has fallen in Ravindranagar mandal of the Sirpur (T) Assembly Constituency.
Rainwater entered numerous homes in Chinthalamanepalli mandal, soaking luggage and other valuables. The village of Dinda in Chinthalamanepalli was completely inundated. Authorities evacuated a mentally unstable resident from a graveyard to a safer location in Bejjur mandal.
Overflow from the Sushmeer village rivulet severed road access to neighbouring areas; similar flooding occurred near Kishnapalli, and high flows at Shivapalli in Bejjur mandal posed additional challenges. Moderate rainfall was also recorded in Jainoor, Sirpur (U), Lingapur, Tiryani, and Rebbena mandals of Komaram Bheem Asifabad district.
Thirteen villages in Bejjur mandal, including Talai, Thikkapalli, Bheemaram, Patha Somini, Somini, Mogavelli, Sushmeer, Nagepalli, Ippalaguda, Gorreguda, Bandalguda, Chinthalpalli, and Andarampalli, have been cut off by flooded roads. In Mancherial district’s Bheemini mandal, a tractor became trapped in an overflowing rivulet at Thimmapur village late Tuesday evening as farmers returned from the fields; the farmers escaped unharmed and abandoned the vehicle.
District authorities have urged residents in low lying areas and along riverbanks to remain vigilant amid ongoing weather warnings. NDRF teams stand by to assist with relief efforts as needed.
