Heavy Inflows Raise Water Levels in Singur, Manjira Reservoirs

The Himayat Sagar touched 1,761.65ft (2.545tmc) compared to its FTL of 1,763.5ft. Inflows reduced from 4,000 cusecs in the morning to 800 cusecs as of 8pm.

Hyderabad: Steady inflows from upstream areas have seen a major rise in water levels in the Singur and Manjira reservoirs.

At Manjira barrage, the water level stood at 1,650.2ft against the full tank level of 1,651.75ft on Saturday evening. Storage was recorded at 1,239.60 million cubic feet, while inflows were around 43,001 cusecs and outflows 46,261 cusecs. Four main gates -- 6, 7, 8, 9 -- were lifted by 4 metres and one scour vent was opened by 1.5 metres to let out excess water.

At the Singur reservoir, the water level was at 521.960 metres against an FTL of 523.600 metres, with the storage at 21.47tmc out of 29.917tmc. The reservoir received 31,412 cusecs of inflows, while 43,001 cusecs were being discharged. Multiple gates -- 6, 8, 9, 10, 11-- were lifted by 1.5 to 2 metres, along with two power plant units managing the outflow.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad twin reservoirs, Osman Sagar, recorded a water level of 1,786.65ft (3.146tmc) against the FTL of 1,790ft by Saturday night. The inflows increased from 900 cusecs in the morning to 1,600 cusecs by evening.
