Health Dept to Prepare Healthcare Framework for Tribal Villages, Expand CT Scan Services

Hyderabad:The health department will implement a special healthcare framework to improve medical services in tribal and forest villages, with a focus on expanding infrastructure, specialist care and emergency services closer to people’s homes, health minister Damodar Rajanarasimha said on Monday.
Reviewing healthcare services in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad and Nirmal districts at the Secretariat, the minister said the government aims to ensure that people living in remote tribal areas have access to the same quality of healthcare available in urban centres.
As part of the plan, CT scan facilities will be introduced in all area hospitals under the integrated tribal development agencies in a phased manner. The government will also establish new sub-centres and primary health centres (PHCs) wherever required, while upgrading existing PHCs, community health centres and area hospitals based on local needs and the distance people travel to access healthcare.
The review meeting was attended by MLAs Vedma Bojju, Payal Shankar, Dr Palvai Harish Babu, Kova Lakshmi, Ramarao Pawar and Anil Jadhav, along with senior officials of the health department.

MLAs informed the minister that government hospitals in their constituencies had improved significantly with the recruitment of more doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff. They, however, sought additional infrastructure and strengthening of specialty departments.
The minister said Adilabad RIMS is being developed as the referral centre for Adilabad, Asifabad and Nirmal districts. Super-specialty services, including cardiology and nephrology, have already been introduced and more departments will be added to reduce the need for patients to travel to Hyderabad for advanced treatment.
With the monsoon underway, Rajanarasimha directed officials to remain alert against seasonal diseases such as malaria, dengue, viral fevers and diarrhoea.
The minister also said the government has sanctioned one ambulance for every mandal in the erstwhile Adilabad district and plans to deploy additional ambulances at community health centres and area hospitals.
