Health Department to Launch Hospital Dashboard

Doctors and staff delivering the best performance will be rewarded, while negligence and poor performance will invite action.

Hyderabad:The health department will introduce a statewide performance dashboard to continuously monitor government hospitals based on key healthcare indicators, including outpatient and inpatient services, surgeries, emergency care, maternal and child health services, patient satisfaction, cleanliness and quality of care, Health minister Damodar Rajanarasimha announced on Saturday.

Doctors and staff delivering the best performance will be rewarded, while negligence and poor performance will invite action.

The minister made the announcement while reviewing the functioning of 47 hospitals under the Directorate of Medical Education and 40 area hospitals with 100 beds or more under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad at the Institute of Health and Family Welfare in Hyderabad.

Addressing hospital superintendents, Rajanarasimha said the performance of government hospitals has improved significantly, leading to a steady increase in patients seeking treatment at public healthcare facilities. At the same time, private hospital managements have informed the government that patient footfall at private hospitals has declined, he said.

He sought an action plan covering all services, diagnostic treatment and equipment.

The minister noted that more doctors are now showing interest in joining government service, evident from the response to recent recruitment drives. Over the past two‑and‑a‑half years, the government has filled nearly 14,000 posts, including doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians and paramedical staff, while recruitment continues wherever vacancies remain.

He said hospitals functioning in rented, old and congested buildings were being replaced with new infrastructure, while essential medicines, surgical equipment and modern medical devices were being supplied. The minister warned that delays in treatment, absenteeism, poor punctuality and negligence would not be tolerated.

The review meeting was attended by Principal Secretary (Health) Dr Christina Z. Chongthu, TGMSIDC managing director Dr Gaurav Uppal, director of Medical Education Dr Narendra Kumar, Aarogyasri CEO Hanumanthu, director of Public Health Dr Ravinder Naik and IIHF governing council chairperson Dr Kavitha Reddy, among other senior officials.
