HC Verdict Clears Way For Urs At Nalgonda Shrine

The board said the court, after examining the facts and submissions, passed judgments in its favour, clearing the way for the Urs.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Waqf Board will conduct the Urs of Hazrat Lateef Ullah Shah Quadri (RA) in Nalgonda district after the Telangana High Court ruled in favour of the board in a long-pending dispute over the shrine.

According to the board, the matter had remained under litigation for several years, with third parties claiming to be the Muzawars of the shrine. The dispute had reached the High Court through writ petitions and appeals.

The board said the court, after examining the facts and submissions, passed judgments in its favour, clearing the way for the Urs.

Telangana Waqf Board chairman Syed Azmatullah Husseni and chief executive officer Mohammed Asadullah thanked devotees, the local community and the district administration for their cooperation.

The board appealed to devotees to participate peacefully in the Urs and follow arrangements made by the authorities.

17 kg of elephant tusks, ivory articles

HYDERABAD: Officers of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Hyderabad, seized four elephant tusks and carved ivory articles weighing about 17 kg and apprehended three persons allegedly involved in their illegal sale.

Acting on specific intelligence, DRI officials laid a trap and intercepted the suspects while a transaction involving the tusks and ivory articles was allegedly under way.

The articles were seized under provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.

Trade and dealing in elephant ivory and articles made from it are prohibited under the Act.

The DRI said it had been carrying out intelligence-based operations against illegal trafficking and trade in wildlife, trophies and articles derived from protected species.

TGSRTC, metro to launch common pass, MeeTicket app

HYDERABAD: The state government will launch the TGSRTC-Metro Common Pass and the “MeeTicket” mobile application on Friday, with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka set to inaugurate the services.

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) said the initiatives were aimed at making travel across Greater Hyderabad and the Core Urban Region more convenient and promoting digital mobility.

The MeeTicket app has been introduced to improve the passenger travel experience through digital services.

In association with Hyderabad Metro Rail, TGSRTC has also introduced daily and monthly common passes for travel on both buses and Metro services.

The corporation said the common pass would allow passengers to use both modes of transport through a single pass, reduce travel costs for frequent commuters and improve last-mile connectivity between Metro stations and residential and commercial areas served by TGSRTC buses.
