Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court refused to permit a medical termination of pregnancy for a minor girl carrying twins, on the ground that she was at 28 weeks’ gestation.
An expert medical board had been convened to examine the victim, who became pregnant after being sexually assaulted. The board reported that terminating the pregnancy would endanger her life. Consequently, the Court declined to authorise the procedure and directed the superintendent of Niloufer Hospital to provide all necessary medical care, to retain her in hospital until delivery, and to ensure her safety throughout.
