HC Pulls Up Rachakonda Police for Unresponsive Dial 100

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court pulled up the Madgul police of the Rachakonda commissionerate for not responding to a ‘Dial 100’ call and physical complaints lodged by victims in a land dispute case.

The court observed that the police should heed the orders passed by the competent courts in property or land-related disputes.

Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy was dealing with a petition filed by Sudini Sunitha against her brother-in-law and his family members regarding their interference in her land in the Madgul of Rangareddy district. She had earlier approached various courts and even the High Court.

According to Sunitha, she was not allowed to go to her land or pluck cotton and her opponents were trying to attack her with third persons. She alleged that there was no action to her complaint to the police.

While the court reacted to the complaints of lack of response from the police, the judge adjourned the hearing to examine the land dispute.

HC orders release of four farmers

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has directed the superintendent of Sangareddy Central Prison to release four agriculturalists of Lagcharla, who were arrested in connection with alleged attack on government officials on November 11.

The Bomarasipet police had filed three FIRSs against the four accused and arrested them on November 16. After releasing them on January 8 in one FIR, the police immediately arrested them in other cases and sent them to prison.

Justice K. Lakshman of the High Court pointed out that the names of the accused had been mentioned in the other two FIRs, based on the statement made by witnesses. However, the witnesses only stated the petitioners’ names in general, but not mentioned specific overt acts and what role they had played on the day of the attack.

Hence, the court opined, the matter should be examined thoroughly to specifically identify the role of the accused. Directing the police to submit the counter on this regard, the court instructed the prison officials to release the four accused, Mudavath Ramesh, Mudavath Gopal Naik, Mythari Madharaiah and Pathlavath Mangya Naik on executing personal bond for Rs 20,000 each.
