HC Directs EPFO Not to Take Coercive Step
The EPFO had issued prohibitory orders to freeze two bank accounts of TLMAL for failing to remit PF contributions reportedly around Rs.14 crore for 14 foreign workers employed between 2012 and 2017, treating them as "international workers" under the EPF Act, 1952

Hyderabad: In interim relief to Tata Lockheed Martin Aerostructures Ltd (TLMAL), the vacation bench of the Telangana High Court directed the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to not take coercive steps till May 21 for recovery of the alleged Provident Fund (PF) dues from the company.
The EPFO had issued prohibitory orders to freeze two bank accounts of TLMAL for failing to remit PF contributions reportedly around Rs.14 crore for 14 foreign workers employed between 2012 and 2017, treating them as "international workers" under the EPF Act, 1952.
Earlier, a division bench of the Telangana High Court had dismissed the appeal filed by TLMAL, regarding payment of installments. As the EPFO issued prohibitory orders on May 6 for freezing the bank accounts, the company approached the vacation bench seeking de-freezing of the accounts.
TLMAL counsel submitted that the company had deposited Rs.4 crore in 2018 and Rs.4.3 crore was recovered. The vacation bench directed the EPFO to file its counter.
