HC Contempt Notice to Education Secretary in HPS Case
Ravinder had earlier approached the court seeking action on allegations concerning the affairs of the HPS Society, which runs the Begumpet and Ramanthapur schools.
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday issued a contempt notice to the state education secretary over alleged non-compliance with its earlier directions concerning complaints of irregularities in the Hyderabad Public School (HPS) Society. Petitioner Durgam Ravinder has also alleged that nearly 100 acres of government land within the HPS Begumpet premises does not figure in the Society’s records.
A two-member bench headed by the Chief Justice issued the notice after advocate P.K. Kalyani, appearing for Ravinder, told the court that the Education Secretary had neither responded to nor acted upon the earlier directions within the stipulated period. Ravinder had earlier approached the court seeking action on allegations concerning the affairs of the HPS Society, which runs the Begumpet and Ramanthapur schools.
The present proceedings stem from a petition disposed of by the High Court in October 2025. The division bench had directed the principal secretary of the Education Department to examine Ravinder’s representation and take an appropriate decision within three months. The representation contained allegations relating to management of funds, reservation in admissions and recruitment, contracts, construction and school land.
