Harish Slams Govt For Letting KRMB Use Telemetry Funds From State
In a statement, Harish Rao said through such deliberate inaction the Congress government had proved again that it was cooperating with AP which was “looting” Telangana’s rightful share of Krishna river waters

HYDERABAD: Former irrigation minister and senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Thursday said it was “shameful” that the Congress government had watched silently as the Krishna River Management Board diverted the Rs 4.18 crore released by the state to purchase gadgets for paying salaries to its staff. The Telangana government had paid the money for installing telemetry devices to monitor the use of Krishna river water by Andhra Pradesh.
In a statement, Harish Rao said through such deliberate inaction the Congress government had proved again that it was cooperating with AP which was “looting” Telangana’s rightful share of Krishna river waters.
He said following a June 2016 meeting of the KRMB, telemetry devices were installed at 18 locations, and more were to be installed at nine locations. "Why did the Telangana government not pull up AP for refusing to fund Phase II of telemetry device installation, and announce it will foot the entire cost? Except making public claims that they are having the devices installed, there is nothing that the Congress government has done in the last two years,” he said.
“Just as it slept as AP was pushing ahead with its Polavaram-Nallamalasagar project, the Congress government has been caught sleeping on the telemetry issue. Instead of just writing letters to KRMB, the Telangana government must write to the Centre complaining of the diversion of funds by the board,” Harish Rao said.
