Harish Says Committee Detrimental To Telangana Interests

In a statement, Harish Rao said the absence of anyone from the inter-state water resources wing from Telangana on the committee pointed to the potential of grave danger to the state’s interests.

HYDERABAD: Senior BRS leader and former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao on Friday said the setting up of a committee by the Union jal shakti ministry to look into inter-state water dispute technicalities was proof of how Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had betrayed Telangana’s river water interests.

In a statement, Harish Rao said the absence of anyone from the inter-state water resources wing from Telangana on the committee pointed to the potential of grave danger to the state’s interests.

“The Chief Minister’s attitude has paved the way clear now for AP’s Polavaram-Nallamalasagar link project. It was he who agreed to the joint committee. From AP, there are two IAS officers and two engineers, while from Telangana, there are three IAS officers and one engineer on the committee. One of the AP engineers is experienced in inter-state water resources issues but there is none from Telangana with the same experience in the committee,” he said.

“That the committee will arrive at a conclusion in three months is a clear indication that AP’s project is all but a done deal. This is a deliberate action by Revanth Reddy which harms Telangana,” Harish Rao said.
