Harish Rao Urges Govt To Pump Godavari Water via Kaleshwaram Amidst Monsoon Concerns
Speaking in Siddipet, Harish Rao said instead of making use of the Kaleshwaram project pumphouses along Godavari river, the Congress government was finding excuses saying the project barrages could not be used.

HYDERABAD: Former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao on Saturday said the poor rainfall so far this season had become a matter of serious concern and fears of crops sown drying up were increasing with each day. He said the government must begin pumping water from the Godavari river and fill the reservoirs downstream, including Ranganayakasagar, and not let the nearly 80 tmc ft of water go waste in the river every day.
Speaking in Siddipet, Harish Rao said instead of making use of the Kaleshwaram project pumphouses along Godavari river, the Congress government was finding excuses saying the project barrages could not be used. “When we say let us have a discussion on it, the Chief Minister refuses to call an Assembly session. We reiterate that we are ready to discuss in detail all matters relating to Godavari and Krishna in the Assembly,” he said.
“If the Chief Minister is angry at KCR and me, he can have cases filed against us, but he should not put the future of Telangana farmers at stake because of personal vendettas. The only reason he does not want any pumping using Kaleshwaram project units is his fear that KCR will get credit if farmers get irrigation water,” Harish Rao said.
