Harish Flays Govt For ‘More Lies’

KCR ‘agitated’ over Banakacharla project

Hyderabad:Former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, recuperating from a bout of being unwell, has also spent time over the past few days meeting with BRS leaders visiting his residence in the city, has made plans to hold the state government accountable on Andhra Pradesh’s plan for the Godavari-Banakacharla link scheme, according to a news release from his aides.

Chandrashekar Rao, who last week was admitted to a hospital for a day and underwent tests, is scheduled for a follow-up visit to the hospital and a few more tests on Thursday, the release said. It, however, also said that over the past few days, Chandrashekar Rao’s health has improved and is stable.

“Even when in the hospital, or recuperating at home, KCR continued to focus on issues of importance to the people and the state. During discussions with party leaders he has expressed his sense of agitation over the state of affairs, especially on AP’s Banakacharla project,” the release said. “And he has prepared a strategy and plans for holding the Congress government accountable on this issue,” the release added.

“KCR,” it said, “was taking part in the discussions with great enthusiasm, and among issues he has discussed was the upcoming elections to local bodies and how the BRS should be prepared for them and use the widespread opposition against the Congress government to defeat the ruling party’s plans for these elections.”

Meanwhile, reacting to the presentations on Krishna and Godavari river issues by Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, senior BRS leader and former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao slammed the meeting saying, “It was shameful that Revanth Reddy lacked the courage to call for an open discussion and instead confined himself to Praja Bhavan with his own party’s representatives and defectors. This is a blatant insult to democratic values and a breach of legislative privileges. The BRS will move a privilege motion in both the Assembly and the Legislative Council against this.”

He said Revanth Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy yet again repeated their baseless and misleading allegations on Krishna and Godavari rivers, and said, “It is Revanth Reddy and his Congress government that has mortgaged Telangana’s rightful share of water resources and is attempting to mislead people with fabricated data and staged presentations.”

On the Pranahita-Chevella project, Harish Rao said the then Congress government deliberately kept alive interstate disputes because it was a Telangana region project. “They now talk as if BRS abandoned it without reason. Facts cannot be buried with whitewashing attempts,” Harish Rao stated.
