Harish Calls Leak Congress’ Diversionary Tactic

He said, demands that the Assembly session be extended to at least 15 days to allow for a thorough discussion on the numerous issues and crises currently facing the state

Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Tuesday said the Congress government was pushed into a corner after BRS president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s press conference on Sunday, and had unleashed diversionary tactics to avoid answering questions he had raised.

“One such example is the ‘leak’ from the government on the phone-tapping and Formula E cases that KCR, KTR and I will get notices,” Harish Rao said.

“After Chandrashekar Rao’s press meet, Revanth Reddy held a ‘chit chat’ with reporters at 9.30 pm to offer explanations. This was followed by half a dozen other ministers including irrigation minister Uttam Kumar Reddy competing to hold press meets. These reactions are a testament to the power of KCR’s questions,” Harish Rao said.

“At the end of it all, the Chief Minister did not respond to Chandrashekar Rao’s questions on Pharma City land and Krishna river water sharing,” he said.

Reiterating the charges levelled by Chandrashekar Rao that Uttam Kumar Reddy wrote to the Centre that 45 tmc ft of water will be enough for the Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme (PRLIS), Harish Rao said this forced the irrigation minister to admit that he had indeed written the letter.

The BRS leader’s comments came during an informal chat with reporters at Telangana Bhavan, the BRS headquarters. He said irrigation project funds were being mismanaged, with allegations that `7,000 crore was distributed among top ministers, and bills were only being cleared for contractors who agree to give a 20 per cent commission.

“The government is said to be planning a PPT presentation on irrigation in the Assembly. The BRS demands an equal opportunity to present its own PPT to ensure the complete truth reaches the public,” he said.

The BRS, he said, demands that the Assembly session be extended to at least 15 days to allow for a thorough discussion on the numerous issues and crises currently facing the state.
