H-New Deported 56 Foreigners Since ’22
Since 2022, Hyderabad police have cracked down on synthetic drug traffickers and illegal stayers.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has arrested and deported 56 foreign nationals from more than 12 countries since 2022. Of these, 33 were involved in synthetic drug trafficking and 23 were deported for overstaying without valid documents. According to DCP (H-NEW) Y.V.S. Sudheendra, the department has arrested 33 foreign nationals for drug trafficking since 2022, including 20 Nigerians, six Sudanese, two Yemenis and one each from Tanzania, Ghana, Palestine, Uganda and Guinea. In 2025 alone, three foreign nationals — two Nigerians and one from Guinea — were arrested.
Another 23 foreign nationals, including 15 Nigerians, three Sudanese, two from the Ivory Coast, one Tanzanian and one Moroccan, were found staying illegally in India without valid passports or visas. H-NEW verified their identities and, in coordination with the respective embassies and the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Hyderabad, deported them after arranging travel documents and tickets. Officials said their continued stay was deemed detrimental to national security.
Since 2022, H-NEW has deported 11 foreign nationals, including eight Nigerians, two Sudanese and one Tanzanian, for illegal stay and drug-related offences. H-NEW has urged citizens to report drug abuse and trafficking activities. It also appealed to parents to monitor their children’s activities and report any information on drug use or peddling to its helpline 8712661601.
