Gurukul Hostel: Officials Blame Contractor For Food Poisoning

Hyderabad:Officials on Monday blamed the contractor for failing to provide hygienic food material to hostels and Gurukul school-cum-hostel staff had failed to monitor the quality of food being supplied. The officials said they were trying to find motives behind such supplies.
The officials insisted that the government has been making payments to the contractors on for supplying food material to prepare breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner for the students. A few days ago, students at ST Gurukul hostel, Mudigonda in Devarakonda in Nalgonda district were hospitalised due to food poisoning and were discharged after treatment. Incidents of food poisoning were also reported at Gurukul hostels at Naranakhed in Sangareddy district and BC Gurukul hostel of Nagarkurnool.
Devarakonda revenue divisional officer (RDO) Chamala Ramana Reddy said that they conducted an inquiry days after a food-poisoning incident, and suspended the principal of Gurukul at Vedadri, for failing to monitor the quality of food.
"We have also asked hostel staff to convene a meeting with the parents and its hostel management," the RDO said.
