Nalgonda: Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught revenue inspector of Gurramopode mandal, Mohammed Abdul Hakeem, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a complainant. The bribe was allegedly demanded to process and forward the complainant’s application and file to the tahsildar for restoration of 1.15 acres of land in Survey No. 225/6, which had been deleted from the online 1-B Register (ROR).
Following a complaint by the farmer, ACB officials laid a trap and caught the revenue inspector in his office while he was accepting the bribe. A chemical test conducted on his hands yielded positive results. The tainted amount of ₹20,000 was recovered from the possession of the accused at his instance. The ACB said the officer had discharged his public duty improperly and dishonestly. The accused was arrested and produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Hyderabad.
