Gulzar Houz Fire Tragedy: Govt Sanctions ₹85 Lakh Ex Gratia for Victims’ Families

Hyderabad: The state government on Friday sanctioned ₹85 lakh as ex gratia payment to the families of those who lost their lives in the Gulzar Houz fire accident near Charminar on May 18.
A memo issued by the Revenue Department stated that the amount has been released from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in favour of the Hyderabad District Collector for disbursement.
A total of 17 people died in the tragic blaze, which broke out in the early hours of May 18. According to officials, all victims died due to asphyxiation caused by smoke inhalation, while eight others also sustained burn injuries.
