Hyderabad:BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday warned that the party would launch a major movement for the state’s water rights if the Congress government failed to stop Andhra Pradesh from undermining Telangana’s interests.
Rama Rao, speaking with reporters, questioned why the Congress government agreed to an agenda set by AP for the upcoming meeting of the Godavari River Management Board (GRMB, and demanded explanations from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.
“Will the CM and the irrigation minister be attending the GRMB meeting? And if so, what do they intended to present on behalf of the people of Telangana,” Rama Rao asked. “If the government has any concern for Telangana, it should boycott the meeting,” Rama Rao contended.
He also said that the BRS, once back in power, would scrap the Hyderabad Industrial Lands Transformation Policy (HILTP) and launch statewide campaign to protect public assets. He reiterated his claim that the Congress government is attempting to hand over valuable industrial land in Hyderabad to private interests.
