Grave Crimes Drop By 42.85% In Suryapet

House burglaries reduced to seven cases in 2025 from nine in 2024, while theft cases also dropped sharply to seven from 16 during the same period.

Nalgonda: Grave crimes in Suryapet district declined sharply by 42.85 per cent in 2025, dropping to 91 cases from 161 in 2024, according to the district’s annual crime report released by police superintendent K. Narsimha.

Murder cases reduced to 18 in 2025 from 20 in 2024, marking a 10 per cent decline, while cases of culpable homicide fell to four from six, a reduction of 33.3 per cent. Dacoity cases dropped significantly to one in 2025 from three in 2024, registering a 66.7 per cent decrease. Robbery cases declined to five from nine, a fall of 44.4 per cent.

Significantly, rape cases declined by 46.4 per cent, with 45 cases reported in 2025 compared to 84 in 2024. However, dowry death cases increased to four in 2025 from one in 2024.

Road accidents in the district also came down to 563 in 2025 from 622 in 2024, registering a 9.09 per cent decline. Fatalities due to road accidents dropped substantially to 204 in 2025 from 278 in 2024, a reduction of 26.6 per cent.

In major breakthroughs, the district police rescued 10 children who were victims of illegal adoption and arrested a gang of 13 persons involved in child trafficking. In another case, police busted a CM Relief Fund cheque scam in Kodad and Huzurnagar Assembly constituencies and arrested 14 persons involved in the fraud.
