Students of Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) in the remote village of Adavi Srirampur in Peddapalli district have drawn widespread attention for effectively using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to clear subject doubts.
Students of Classes 8, 9 and 10 are leveraging AI tools with the guidance of their teachers, using an Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) with internet connectivity provided by Telangana Fiber Grid Corporation Limited (T-Fiber). "Seeing the students’ keen interest, we also provided microphones connected to the IFP for their convenience," said school headmaster E. Odelu to Deccan Chronicle on Wednesday.
He said students were using various apps, including Perplexity—an AI-powered answer engine known for offering accurate, trusted and real-time responses—to clarify doubts. Responses appear on the IFP screen within seconds, he explained.
As news spread about a government school using AI, district collector Koya Sree Harsha decided to visit the school and interact with the students on Thursday. With the school in the spotlight, the headmaster expressed confidence that student strength would increase by the next academic year.
Currently, the school has 39 students across Classes 6 to 10. A significant transformation began after the Congress government came to power, with T-Fiber providing an internet connection and the IFP a year ago.
Initially, students used Google, YouTube videos, and other educational apps for support. But for the past 10 days, they have been exploring AI tools, setting an example for their peers, the headmaster said.
When contacted, T-Fiber managing director Venu Prasad Panneeru said the Adavi Srirampur school is among 60 government schools provided internet access under the BharatNet project. He was glad that students were using the facility to improve their knowledge by using cutting-edge technology. T-Fiber has also produced a documentary on how students at the school are using AI tools.
