Govt Mulls Merger of Hanamkonda, Warangal: MLA Naini Rajendar Reddy
Leaders from the Congress, BJP, CPM and New Democracy shared the stage, calling for a single, unified Warangal district for better urban planning and growth.

Warangal: The state government is seriously considering the merger of Hanamkonda and Warangal districts into a single unit, said Warangal West MLA Naini Rajendar Reddy while addressing a protest organised by civil society groups at Ekashila Park in Hanamkonda on Sunday.
The protest was led by Professor Kurapati Venkatanarayana and supported by several organisations, including the Forum for Better Warangal and the Telangana Activists Forum. The groups demanded that the two districts be reunited to develop the Hanamkonda–Warangal–Kazipet tri-city area into a major metropolitan centre, on par with Hyderabad.
The MLA said the present unscientific division had created confusion among officials and slowed the development of the historic city. He criticised the previous BRS government for splitting the erstwhile Warangal district into six parts, alleging it was done for political and business interests, damaging the city’s cultural and historical identity. He assured that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was aware of the issue and would take steps to restore Warangal’s former glory.
Parkal MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy extended his support over the phone, while KUDA chairman and DCC president Enagala Venkatram Reddy and former mayor Dr T. Rajeshwar Rao also took part.
