Government Teacher Loses Job Over Technical Discrepancy, Takes Up Manual Labour

Laxmirajam joined government service in 2012 as a Village Revenue Assistant (VRA) and was later promoted as a Ward Officer in the municipal department after 11 years of service.

Karimnagar: A government teacher from Jagtial district has been removed from service following a technical discrepancy related to certificate validation, prompting him to take up manual centering labour while pursuing legal remedies.

Sources said M. Laxmirajam, who served in government roles for over a decade, is currently working as a centering labourer after losing his teaching post and earlier municipal employment.

Laxmirajam joined government service in 2012 as a Village Revenue Assistant (VRA) and was later promoted as a Ward Officer in the municipal department after 11 years of service. He subsequently cleared the District Selection Committee (DSC) examination and secured appointment as a government teacher.

The issue arose during certificate verification held on October 5, 2024, when officials found that his Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) certificate had expired at the time of scrutiny. Although he had applied for renewal and received the updated certificate on October 7, he was issued an appointment order on October 16. A subsequent complaint regarding the verification process led to his removal from service.

Following the decision, Laxmirajam approached the district collectorate seeking reconsideration of his case. He has also initiated legal proceedings in the High Court while continuing to work as a daily wage labourer to support his family.

District Education Officer K. Ramu stated that the action was taken as per existing recruitment rules and government instructions.

The matter has triggered local discussion on administrative procedures in recruitment and verification processes.
