Golden Shawl With ‘Operation Sindoor’ Portrait Presented PM

Woven by award-winning Sircilla weaver, shawl features ‘Operation Sindoor’ in tribute to forces

Karimnagar: On National Handloom Day, Medak BJP MP M. Raghunandan Rao met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and presented him with a handwoven golden shawl featuring an ‘Operation Sindoor’ portrait. The shawl was crafted by weaver Nalla Vijay Kumar of Sircilla in Rajanna Sircilla district.

A recipient of the Chenetha Kala Ratna Award, Vijay Kumar wove the two-metre-long, 38-inch-wide shawl using 24-carat gold threads. The piece was conceived both to honour Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and to pay tribute to the strength of India’s armed forces. Moved by a recent terrorist attack and impressed by the government’s robust response, Vijay Kumar created this masterpiece as a symbol of resilience and patriotism.

Vijay Kumar’s repertoire also includes unique handloom creations such as saris fine enough to pass through a needle’s eye, and elaborate designs incorporating silver and gold threads.
