Godavari Pushkaralu Works Begin Along The River Course In Telangana

The Telangana government has allocated ₹1,000 crore for making arrangements for the Pushkaralu.

Karimnagar: Preparatory works for the Godavari Pushkaralu at prominent places along the river have begun in the erstwhile Karimnagar district.

Though the event is scheduled in June 2027, state government has started works in advance to ensure that adequate facilities required for devotees are available.

A large number of devotees are expected to take a holy dip at Dharmapuri and Kotilingala in Jagtial district and Manthani in Peddapalli district, apart from other locations.

The Telangana government has allocated ₹1,000 crore for making arrangements for the Pushkaralu.

Authorities will develop a helipad on the Manthani-Ramagundam Road.

Dharmapuri is considered a sacred bathing site because the Godavari takes a rare north-to-south turn there, known as “Uttara Vahini.”

The town is home to Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple.

Lakhs of devotees from across the state and neighbouring states, including Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh, are expected to visit the town during the Godavari Pushkaralu.

The government has earmarked ₹226 crore for Pushkaralu works in Dharmapuri.

Roads and Buildings, Panchayati Raj, and Irrigation departments are involved in the works.

Officials said bathing ghats, roads, changing rooms, drinking water facilities, sanitation, electricity, medical services, and parking areas would be developed.

Temple improvements are also planned.

New bathing ghats spanning 470 metres will be built at Dharmapuri.

Ghats will span 210 metres at Kotilingala.

Arrangements will also be made in Raikal, Birpur, Ibrahimpatnam, and Mallapur mandals.

Welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, who has been reviewing the progress of Godavari Pushkaralu works, held a meeting with officials in the first week of October.

However, no work has yet begun at Bornapalli in Raikal mandal, another major bathing point.

Local residents have expressed dissatisfaction over the delay.

Manthani has been allocated ₹91 crore for Pushkaralu works.

Plans include bathing ghats spanning 180 metres, changing rooms for women, and laying of cement concrete roads costing ₹28 crore.

Endowments department has sanctioned ₹20 crore for 14 works.

Development of the Gautameshwar Temple, parking areas, and related facilities will cost ₹0 crore, while another ₹7 crore have been earmarked for pinda pradanam sheds and temple beautification.

Apart from bathing ghats, a four-lane road from Manthani bus depot to the Godavari riverbank, and a two-km road from the depot to Ramagundam Road are under construction.
