Godavari at Bhadrachalam
Bhadrachalam: The Godavari river is flowing heavily near Bhadrachalam following incessant rains in the region and upstream areas, with the water level touching 37 feet. The bathing ghat has been submerged, and officials have advised devotees not to enter the river for bathing as a precaution. In Parnashala, the Sita idol has also been submerged in rainwater.
The continuous downpour triggered by a severe low-pressure system has left several parts of Telangana battered, with streams overflowing and roads inundated. According to the Meteorological Department, the low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a depression and cross the coast near south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.
As a result, heavy to very heavy rains are likely in Adilabad, Asifabad and Mancherial districts, while Medak, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Nirmal and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts may witness heavy rains.
Meanwhile, reservoirs are witnessing massive inflows. The Nagarjuna Sagar project is receiving 3,70,309 cusecs of inflows against an outflow of 3,98,660 cusecs, with 26 gates lifted to release water. The Sriramsagar project, which has a full storage capacity of 80.5 TMC and currently holds 73.37 TMC, is releasing 2.32 lakh cusecs into the Godavari through 39 gates.
