Go After Violators of Urea Rules, Revanth tells Babus

"Union fertilisers minister J.P. Nadda had recently raised concerns over illegal diversion of urea in Telangana during their meeting Delhi early this month," Revanth said.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has warned of stringent action against those involved in the illegal diversion of urea meant for agriculture to non-agricultural sectors. He expressed anger over reports of urea misuse and ordered stringent action to curb the practice.

During a video conference with district collectors on Monday, Revanth Reddy revealed that Union fertilisers minister J.P. Nadda had recently raised concerns over illegal diversion of urea in Telangana during their meeting Delhi early this month. Nadda urged the state government to act firmly against the diversion of urea, Revanth Reddy said

Taking serious note of the matter, Revanth Reddy directed collectors to register criminal cases against violators, regardless of their influence or status.

Revanth Reddy ordered the setting up of toll-free numbers to enable citizens to report illegal activities related to fertiliser sales. “Collectors must ensure that false narratives of urea shortage are countered. Adequate urea stocks are available, and even the August quota will reach the state shortly,” the CM assured.

He ordered that the urea stock details be displayed clearly on boards at all dealer points and made available online. To ensure smooth sales and prevent panic, he said, two officials and two police personnel should be stationed at each fertiliser outlet.

Revanth Reddy made it clear that collectors must conduct regular field visits and surprise inspections to understand the situation at the grassroots level. He stated that he was issuing strict instructions to ensure these field visits took place without fail.

He warned that negligence would not be tolerated, regardless of the official's rank or position. He also directed Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao to submit a comprehensive daily report to the government detailing the activities of all district collectors.

Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, D. Sridhar Babu, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and others attended the videoconference at Secretariat, along with Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka from Kothagudem and minister Tummala Nageswara Rao from Khammam virtually.
