The visit was part of an Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation international training programme organised by ICRISAT

A 46‑member delegation from 24 countries visited a‑IDEA at ICAR‑National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Rajendranagar, on Monday to study India’s agritech innovation ecosystem, startup incubation and entrepreneurship in sustainable agricultural development.
The visit was part of an Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation international training programme organised by ICRISAT under the ministry of external affairs. Delegates examined how business incubators help young enterprises develop technologies, take products to market and respond to farmers’ needs.
Agricultural professionals, researchers, policymakers and academicians took part from Algeria, Bangladesh, Côte d’Ivoire, Croatia, Dominica, Egypt, Fiji, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Lebanon, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Zambia.
Dr Ranjit Kumar, principal scientist at ICAR‑NAARM and CEO of a‑IDEA, explained how the incubator supports agritech startups, assists technology commercialisation and promotes agripreneurship. Director of ICAR‑NAARM and a‑IDEA president Dr Raman Meenakshi Sundaram said innovation, research and international partnerships were vital for resilient and sustainable agri‑food systems. He called for closer cooperation among developing countries to address shared agricultural challenges through science and technology.
Delegates later exchanged ideas with ICAR‑NAARM leadership during the final interactive session. The academy said the visit supported knowledge exchange, entrepreneurship promotion and capacity building across countries.
