Girls Outperform Boys in TG EAPCET Engineering Stream
Three students from AP top EAPCET, most aspirants keen on admission in IITs

Hyderabad: Girl students outperformed boys in the MPC stream, traditionally seen as a bastion of male candidates, in the results of the Telangana Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (TG Eapcet) that were released by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday.
Data showed that 73.88 per cent of girls qualified in the engineering stream, against 72.79 per cent for boys. In the agriculture and pharmacy stream, girls achieved a qualification percentage of 88.32, which is in keeping with the general trend, while boys scored 86.29 per cent.
Interestingly, Bani Brata Majee, who secured All-India Rank (AIR) 1 in JEE Main, got the eighth rank in the state exam. All the top 10 engineering rankers secured All India Ranks within the top 200 in JEE Main.
Palla Bharath Chandra secured the first rank in the engineering stream, while Peddakkagari Saketh Reddy topped the agriculture and pharmacy stream. In the engineering stream, the top three rankers are from Andhra Pradesh, most of whom studied in Hyderabad for long. There was only one girl student in the top 10 BPC stream rankers. Brahmani Rebdla at No. 5.
In the engineering stream, out of 2,07,190 students who appeared for the exam, 1,51,779 candidates qualified. For the agriculture and pharmacy streams, 81,198 students appeared, and 71,309 candidates qualified.
The top rankers in both streams shared that their ultimate goal is to gain admission into IITs, NITs, or medical colleges. Many viewed TG EAPCET as a backup option and took the exam to assess their performance levels for national-level entrance tests.
According to official data from JNTUH, EAPCET-2025 saw a dip in overall qualification percentages. In the engineering stream, the rate dropped to 73.26 per cent in 2025, compared to 74.98 per cent in 2024. In the agriculture and pharmacy streams, the rate decreased to 87.82 per cent from 89.67 per cent in 2024.
The exams were conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, and the State Higher Education Council, from April 29 to May 4 across 124 centres in 16 zones.
