GHMC Transfers Medical Staff After Civic Reorganisation
According to the proceedings, the state government had earlier reorganised GHMC into 12 zones and 60 circles

Hyderabad:The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has transferred and posted assistant medical officers of health (AMOH) across the city following the merger of 27 urban local bodies into the GHMC limits and reorganisation of the civic body into 12 zones and 60 circles.
The orders were issued on December 29 by the GHMC commissioner after the Telangana government merged urban local bodies located within and abutting the Outer Ring Road across Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Sangareddy districts into the GHMC.
According to the proceedings, the state government had earlier reorganised GHMC into 12 zones and 60 circles. In line with the new administrative structure, transfers and postings of AMOHs were ordered with immediate effect on administrative grounds.
The transfers span several zones and circles, including Malkajgiri, Uppal, LB Nagar, Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, Charminar, Golconda, Khairatabad, Secunderabad, Serilingampally, Kukatpally and Quthbullapur, among other newly integrated areas.
The orders clearly outline the responsibilities of AMOH under the revised structure. They have been designated as immunisation officers for their respective jurisdictions and will handle epidemiology and disease surveillance, including control of dengue, malaria, chikungunya and rabies.
They have also been directed to assist medical officers and staff at community health centres and urban primary health centres within their areas. In addition, the officers will oversee the Indiramma Canteens scheme, including maintenance and timely distribution of subsidised food.
The proceedings state that AMOH will not be involved in sanitation work and must focus exclusively on public health responsibilities under the health department. The transfers take effect immediately, and all concerned officials have been instructed to comply without delay.
