GHMC To Turn Hi-Tech For Enhanced Services

The primary purpose of this initiative is to build a high-performance digital app that acts as the core operational tool for field teams conducting verification, compliance checks, and enhanced services, including sanitation, illumination, road restoration and also services like property tax assessment, etc.

Hyderabad: The GHMC will develop a centralised, GIS-driven monitoring and data management platform and a QR-enabled mobile GIS application to strengthen urban governance.

The primary purpose of this initiative is to build a high-performance digital app that acts as the core operational tool for field teams conducting verification, compliance checks, and enhanced services, including sanitation, illumination, road restoration and also services like property tax assessment, etc.

According to the proposal, this project will transition GHMC operations from a traditional manual, address-driven model to a location-intelligent, map-centric digital verification and service delivery ecosystem.

In addition to strengthening urban governance, this platform enables GHMC to monitor citywide field survey operations, validate multi-source property information, detect inconsistencies, and generate analytical insights to improve tax administration and maintain an updated property database.

“This platform will act as the digital command and intelligence centre for GHMC’s property verification,” said a GHMC official. “It will integrate real-time data from field inspections, citizen submissions, and departmental databases into a unified geospatial interface that allows officials to make data-driven decisions on a scale,” he added.

In addition to data visualisation, the system will incorporate a resilient cloud-native backend with zero-downtime operations, multi-zone replication, and disaster recovery capabilities, ensuring uninterrupted services regardless of load, failures, or citywide disruption.

According to the proposal, this GIS platform will serve as the foundational layer for GHMC’s broader digital initiatives, including future Digital Twin implementations, smart city dashboards, planning analytics, and AI-driven municipal intelligence.

This GIS enables users to visually compare current property conditions using integrated imagery sources. The system will incorporate street-level imagery where available, high-resolution satellite basemaps, historical aerial imagery sequences, field-captured photos and documents and layout plans and approved building sketches.
