GHMC standing council approves 13 key infra proposals

Hyderabad:The GHMC’s standing committee on Thursday approved the Rs 7.032 crore H-CITI project and 12 other key proposals aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure. The agenda included 10 regular items and three tabled proposals.
The H-CITI project includes construction of flyovers and underpasses at key locations such as Jubilee Hills Checkpost, Filmnagar, and Road No. 45 junctions to ease traffic congestion.
Additionally, the committee approved a ₹620-crore comprehensive development plan for the stretch from Nalgonda X Roads to Owaisi junction.
Approval was also given for the construction of a two-level, six-lane flyover at Gachibowli junction under the SRDP project, and for new approach roads ranging from nine to 18 metres connecting Goshamahal police ground to Osmania general hospital. These decisions will be presented to the GHMC council and the state government for final approval.
Among the major decisions that were taken, the committee cleared widening of the road from Gulmohar Park junction to BHEL junction via Taranagar. The project involves extending the road to 30 and 36 metres over 1.1 km, with the acquisition of 227 properties recommended for government sanction.
Desilting works also received attention, with the committee approving six major projects worth ₹2,231.75 lakh across Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, and Serilingampally zones.
Additional approvals were granted for three desilting projects amounting to ₹697.85 lakh in Charminar, Khairatabad and Secunderabad zones. These works are expected to prevent flooding and ensure smooth drainage during the monsoon season.
The Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme (CRMP) Phase-II also saw progress, with two proposals gaining approval.
The first plan includes maintaining 744.22 kilometres of roads for five years at a cost of ₹2,491 crore, while the second expands the scope to cover 1,142.54 km, including new stretches, for ₹3,825 crore over the same period.
Revised administrative sanctions were granted to the Lalapet-Moula Ali road expansion project, with the budget increased to ₹4.30 crore.
Modifications to the model market building constructed at Narayanguda were also approved. Among the tabled items, the committee sanctioned widening of the road from MJ Market to Bhulaxmi temple via Malakunta and Begum Bazaar to 30 metres.
The committee approved renaming of the six-lane grade separator on NH 44 as ‘Dr Manmohan Singh Expressway,’ with a recommendation to the state government for implementation.
Meanwhile, approval was granted for a three-year contract with Creative Thoughts Media Hyderabad to undertake greening initiatives around the entrances of KBR Park using flowering plants in fibre and cement pots, funded through CSR contributions.
Chairing the meeting, Mayor G. Vijayalakshmi urged corporators and officials to work in coordination with each to ensure comprehensive development of the city and to deliver improved facilities to its residents.
