GHMC Sanitation Worker Run Over by RTC Bus While Crossing Road

Hyderabad:GHMC sanitation worker M. Pushpa, 49, was run over by an RTC bus while was crossing the road on Thursday, Amberpet police said. The accident occurred at around 12.30 pm while she was heading towards her house in Moosarambagh. She came under the rear wheel of the bus belonging to the Dilsukhnagar depot, police said.
Pushpa was on duty at an intersection at a cafe in Amberpet. On being informed Amberpet police rushed to the spot and shifted victim’s body to OGH hospital for postmortem.
As news of the fatal accident spread, several GHMC workers reached the spot and staged a protest for about an hour. They demanded justice for the family of the deceased. Raising slogans in support of their demands, they also asked for GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan to visit the spot.
“A probe should be conducted into the incident and the family of our colleague should get compensation,” demanded a GHMC worker from the sanitation wing. The protesters dispersed after receiving an assurance from senior officials that Pushpa’s family would be extended financial assistance.
