Hyderabad: GHMC sources attributed the complaint lodged by Asif Sohail alleging corruption in the corporation’s Circle 18 to a political fight between Congress leaders and AIMIM corporators.
With regard to an incomplete cement concrete road in Suryanagar of Towlichowki in Shaikpet ward, sources said it was sanctioned by BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. As the earlier bills of contractors were not paid, the works did not start in Suryanagar Colony, they said
Sources said GHMC and HMWS&SB officials work closely with elected representatives, including corporators and MLAs, irrespective of their party affiliations. In this case, they were in touch with Shaikpet’s AIMIM corporator Mohammed Rashed Farazuddin, who is also a GHMC standing committee member.
A source said that Sohail felt neglected by officials and lodged the complaint. With regard to his allegation of corruption, a Circle 18 asked how could there be corruption when the works had not commenced and payment for bills not released.
