Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has issued orders directing the closure of all sheep, goat and cattle slaughterhouses apart from retail meat and beef shops in its limits on October 2, in view of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.
As per the notice, the decision has been taken as per the Standing Committee Resolution considering the significance of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.
The GHMC Commissioner, R. V. Karnan, has requested the Commissioners of Police of Hyderabad to extend the cooperation to the municipal authorities in enforcing the closure of all the slaughterhouses and meat and beef shops in the GHMC limits.
