GHMC clears road, parking projects worth Rs 3.7K cr

Hyderabad: The GHMC standing committee on Saturday approved 13 proposals, including major projects under the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme (CRMP) and new parking infrastructure.
The committee cleared the leasing of 1,142.54 km of main roads to private agencies under CRMP-Phase II for five years at a cost of Rs 2,828 crore, payable in instalments. It also approved inviting expressions of interest (EoI) for a seven-year operation and maintenance contract, with phase-wise replacement of existing LED streetlights and CCMS boxes, estimated at Rs 897 crore.
Another key approval was for the construction, operation and maintenance of a multi-level parking complex at Charminar Old Bus Stand on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer basis, with a 15-year concession period and a five-year extension based on performance.
Plans for smart parking infrastructure in the Khairatabad zone were cleared. Two bidders — Zruti Solutions and Xookey Technologies—qualified to develop digital parking support at various locations, said GHMC in a press release.
Among other civil works, the committee approved stormwater drains from Nagole lake to the Musi at Venkataramana Colony (Rs 5 crore) and from Nagole Lake to SNDP drain via Dhobi Ghat (Rs 2.98 crore).
