GHMC Approves Rs 11,460 Crore Budget for 2026
Out of the Rs 11,460-crore Budget, a lion's share was allocated to roads, bridges, the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme (CRMP), which takes care of main roads and Hyderabad City Innovation and Transformative Infrastructure (HCITI) projects.

Hyderabad: The standing committee of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Monday approved a Rs 11,460-crore Budget for the country’s largest civic body, with the main focus being on the improvement of road infrastructure and sanitation. The Committee also approved the revised estimates of Rs 11,010 crore for 2025-26 for the erstwhile GHMC.
Out of the Rs 11,460-crore Budget, a lion's share was allocated to roads, bridges, the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme (CRMP), which takes care of main roads and Hyderabad City Innovation and Transformative Infrastructure (HCITI) projects.
The second highest spending will be on the city's cleanliness and recycling initiatives, which also include waste-to-energy processes of garbage, with Rs 746 crore marked for solid waste management. The other major expenditure consists of the ‘Green Budget’, with Rs 90 crore exclusively allocated for it.
The GHMC expects to earn Rs 2,245 crore from property tax, Rs 1,200 crore from building permits and occupancy certificates and Rs 400 crore through State Finance Commission (SFCs) grants. It expects Rs 3,100 crore through state government grants and Rs 800 crore from borrowing.
In the evening, the GHMC Standing Committee met once again and approved 22 proposals, which include the conversion of NBT Nagar Sports Complex in Banjara Hills to NBT Nagar Convention Hall, and Hyderabad Sculpture Park around KBR Park Walk.
Land acquisition permissions were granted for the H-CITI project at Miyapur and Ameenpur, the development of a graveyard in Chandanagar, the construction of a box drain in Jambagh near Koti’s SBI main branch were the other major proposals approved. The proposal to invite tenders for AI-based solutions, including an AI chatbot and automated form-filling services on the GHMC website for three years, was also approved.
