Gender Test Delays Remand of Aghori
Cyberabad cops forced to confirm gender before lodging cheating case accused in jail

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police faced an unusual hurdle while executing the remand of Srinivas alias Aghori, who was arrested in connection with a cheating case. Jail authorities at Sangareddy prison refused to admit the accused without a medical certificate confirming gender identity, compelling the police to conduct a gender determination test.
Srinivas, also known as Aghori, was arrested by Mokila police for allegedly cheating a woman. After producing the accused before a local court, the magistrate ordered judicial remand. However, when police attempted to lodge Aghori in Sangareddy prison, jail officials sought clarification on gender, stating that without proper certification, they could not determine the appropriate barrack.
“In such cases, it is necessary to identify the gender of the inmate to ensure appropriate accommodation,” the jail authorities said. Following the request, the police took Aghori to a government hospital for a gender determination test. Doctors certified that the accused is a female trans person. After the gender confirmation test, the police transferred Aghori to Chanchalguda jail in Hyderabad for judicial remand.
