Ganja Worth Rs.4.15 Cr Seized In Bhadradri Kothagudem, 2 Held

The accused developed a hidden chamber in the van to avoid detection of ganja

Hyderabad: The Bhadradri Kothagudem district police seized as many as 830.540 kg of ganja, worth Rs.4.15 crore after arresting two persons - Jasram and Ram Kumar from Madhya Pradesh.

The operation took place at Padamati Narsapuram village, where officers intercepted a van bearing registration number - HR 55AH7375 during their vehicle checking and discovered the concealed contraband. Smugglers often go to great lengths to hide illegal substances, and in this case, they engineered a hidden chamber to avoid detection, the police said.

They have loaded ganja at Tulisipaka village of Alluri Seetaramaraju district and started its journey in order to reach New Delhi through Bhadradchalam, Kothagudem, Khammam, and other districts and States.

District Superintendent of Police B. Rohith Raju said the accused had modified the van with a hidden compartment to evade detection. The ganja was being transported from Tulisipaka village in Alluri Seetharama Raju district to New Delhi, passing through Bhadradchalam, Kothagudem, Khammam, and Nagpur.

He said several individuals from Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Alluri Seetaramaraju district were identified as buyers and sellers and added that a case has been registered against all involved parties, and the seized items including van, two mobile phones, and the ganja.

He said the district police were constantly working hard to intercept such activities, and succeeded in curtailing the illegal transportation of ganja. In 2024, authorities seized 8,078 kg across 112 cases, while in 2025, they have already confiscated 3,002 kg so far.
