Ganesh Idols Taken Out in Adilabad for Immersion Amid Tight Security
The event was organised on the occasion of the national song Vande Mataram completing 150 years.
Adilabad:A Shobha Yatra of Ganesh idols was taken out in Adilabad on Friday for immersion amid tight police security. The idols were taken out after special puja at Saraswati Shishu Mandir under the supervision of Hindu Istava Samiti.
The Shobha Yatra began at Vinayaka Chowk and proceeded towards the Penganga river for immersion. As many as 250 Ganesh idols were taken from Adilabad to the river.
The police deployed 600 personnel, including DSPs, CIs and SIs, and used 600 CCTV cameras and drones for surveillance to prevent incidents. The police monitored the Shobha Yatra from the command control room.
Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh, MLA Payal Shankar, collector Rajarshi Shah, SP Akhil Mahajan, municipal chairman Anusha Bandari and market committee chairman Srikanth Reddy participated in the puja. RSS Indur Vibhag Saha Vibhag Pracharak Meesari Prakash was the chief guest.
Police said nearly 2,000 Ganesh idols were installed across Adilabad district during Navaratri and 1,500 had been immersed.
Meanwhile, district officials, MP Godam Nagesh, MLA Payal Shankar and senior BJP leader Suhasini Reddy participated in a mass singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ at Saraswati Vidya Mandir High School under Namami Bharatham as part of an event for a Guinness Book record.
