Ganesh Idol Immersions Begin across Hyderabad on Day 3

The administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the immersion of idols in the limits of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), and Cyberabad and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporations

Hyderabad: The immersion of Ganesh idols commenced on Wednesday at various water bodies in the city and its suburbs on the third day of 11-day Vinayaka Chaturthi.

The administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the immersion of idols in the limits of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), and Cyberabad and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporations.

As posters were put up on upper Tank Bund not to allow idol immersion, officials asked the Ganesh pandal organizers and devotees to immerse idols either at NTR Gardens or Necklace Road. Dancing to the pulsating drum beats, devout took part in the immersion processions.

Cranes were arranged at the water bodies in Saroornagar, Kukatpally, and Safilguda, among other areas for conducting the immersion in a hassle-free manner. Jumbo bags were also arranged to enable devotees’ flowers and other pooja material into them instead of dumping them into lakes.

Adequate number of police and municipal staff were deployed at immersion points to assist the devotees arriving to immerse the idols. The number of idols that were immersed was less on the third day.

However, it is expected to pick up as the days progress. A large number of idols would be immersed on the fifth, seventh, ninth, tenth and twelfth day. Officials said the administration in the three corporations was leaving no stone unturned in conducting the immersion in a peaceful manner.

Festival atmosphere was prevailing from Monday as youth and residential welfare associations put up pandals to worship Lord Ganesha. The lanes and bylanes were decked up with saffron flags and bunting, LED lights and flowers to mark the occasion.
