CMC Suspends TPBO Over Anjaiah Nagar Building Collapse
In an order issued on August 22, CMC Commissioner G. Srijana, placed U. Santosh Kumar, TPBO, Circle 50, Madhapur, under suspension with immediate effect.

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has suspended a Town Planning Building Officer (TPBO) for allegedly failing to stop the unauthorised construction of the seven-storey building in Anjaiah Nagar, Gachibowli, which collapsed on August 22, killing two persons.
In an order issued on August 22, CMC Commissioner G. Srijana, placed U. Santosh Kumar, TPBO, Circle 50, Madhapur, under suspension with immediate effect.
The order stated that the collapsed structure at H.No.1-60/113/135/1 was an unauthorised building comprising a ground floor, six upper floors and a penthouse. It said the officer had failed to stop the unauthorised construction, which resulted in loss of life and endangered public safety.
The CMC said disciplinary proceedings against the officer were contemplated and that he would remain under suspension until their conclusion.
The officer has also been directed not to leave his headquarters without prior permission from the Commissioner. He will be paid subsistence allowance as admissible under the rules.
