Fungal Vegetables, Unhygienic Kitchen Found at Sweekar Hotel in Kacheguda
Contaminated vegetables, poor hygiene, unlabelled food seized during inspection

Hyderabad: The Food Safety Department found serious hygiene and safety violations during an inspection at Sweekar Hotel.
Officials found fungal-contaminated cabbage, lemons affected by citrus canker and rotten tomatoes in the kitchen. Boiled potatoes were being used without proper cleaning and peeling, raising concerns over food safety standards.
The inspection also revealed poor sanitation, housefly infestation and generally unhygienic kitchen conditions. Prepared food items were found stored uncovered and without labels in refrigerators.
In another major lapse, raw vegetables were stored alongside semi-prepared food such as boiled noodles, posing a serious risk of cross-contamination.
Authorities noted the absence of FoSTaC-trained personnel and lack of essential records, including employee health logs, pest control, water analysis and used cooking oil disposal details.
During the inspection, officials seized “New Classic Hakka Noodles” (700 g) for not carrying a batch number and nutritional information, in violation of Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations.
The Food Safety Department said necessary action has been initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
