From Messi to 'Futuristic Hyderabad': City Flyovers Get a ₹15-Crore Vibrant Makeover

Hyderabad: The P. Janardhan Reddy (PJR) flyover at Gachibowli has been beautified with murals of football stars, while beautification works have been sanctioned for flyovers at Nallagandla, Kothaguda, Gopanpally, Hafeezpet and Gowlidoddi. The total contract value of the five projects is around Rs.15 crore, awarded on a tender basis by Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC).

The PJR flyover, painted in blue, yellow and other bright colours, features Spanish footballers Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmati, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Mohamed Salah and Indian star Sunil Chhetri, who hails from Secunderabad.

Officials said upcoming themes for other flyovers include women empowerment, adventure and futuristic cityscapes. “Under the futuristic city theme we want to showcase how Hyderabad will look in years to come,” a CMC official said.

At Kothaguda flyover, the adventure theme will feature murals of mountains, trekking and waterfalls. The Biodiversity flyover, which already has paintings of animals and greenery, will be further spruced up. At Gowlidoddi flyover, either women empowerment or futuristic city themes will be adopted. Themes for other flyovers are yet to be finalised.

At the PJR Flyover, murals adorn the pillars, parapet walls have been painted to match, and safety grills have been coloured. Videos of the flyover shared on social media drew appreciation for the initiative.
