Four migrant labourers killed in road mishap on NH

Warangal: A road accident on the Warangal-Khammam National Highway resulted in the deaths of four migrant labourers and left four others injured on Sunday. The incident occurred at Mamnoor in Warangal when a speeding truck carrying heavy iron poles overturned, crashing into two autorickshaws.

Authorities report that the truck driver was allegedly drunk during the accident. Police nabbed him and started an investigation after registering a case against him.
On receiving reports from local residents, police teams rushed to the spot to conduct rescue operations. The injured were shifted to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital for immediate medical attention, while the bodies of the four deceased were also taken to the same facility for post-mortem examinations.
The victims included six migrant labourers from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, who were residing in temporary shelters in Warangal. Additionally, two auto drivers sustained injuries in the crash.
District collector Satya Sharada visited the accident site to oversee the relief efforts. She directed officials to provide the best possible medical care to the injured and arranged for the transportation of the deceased to their hometowns using special vehicles. During her visit to MGM Hospital, collector Sharada interacted with the relatives of victims and extended her condolences.
In response to the accident, police and municipal departments cleared the highway by removing the iron poles and the overturned truck with the help of heavy cranes.
