Foundation, Police Extend Aid to Adivasis in Nirmal, Adilabad

Medical camp, relief material distributed in interior tribal villages

Adilabad: The Dr Appala Kaveri Foundation on Sunday distributed utensils, blankets, sweaters, and bags to Adivasis from interior villages, Chakirevu, Vasupalli, Naikpod Guda, and Kothgudem, in Pembi mandal of Nirmal district.

Foundation president Dr Appala Chakaradhar also conducted a medical camp at Chakirevu village, where 55 children and 70 elderly persons were examined and provided free medicines. The medical team distributed medicines to patients suffering from anaemia and created awareness among local Adivasis on basic health and hygiene issues.

The Foundation further distributed solar lights to Adivasi families living without electricity and facing difficulties due to wild animals.

Foundation members Dr Thummala Devrao, Nerella Hanumanthu, panchayat secretary Narender, forest beat officer Ashish, Deepak Reddy, Maisa Aravind, Dr Srinivas, Jangubai, Hemanth Greeshma, and the village patel were present during the programme.

Meanwhile, Adilabad Police, led by Akhil Mahajan, distributed 500 blankets to Adivasis from Kannapur, Kuntaguda, and Jendaguda villages in Sirikonda mandal of Adilabad district.

Addressing the gathering, SP Akhil Mahajan urged parents to prioritise education for their children and advised people to seek treatment at government hospitals instead of relying solely on traditional medicines. He also appealed to the community to cooperate with police in curbing ganja cultivation and addiction.

Utnoor Additional SP Kajal Singh, Sirikonda SI S. Puja, and local leaders were also present.
